Kaya village is situated in a fertile valley reknowned locally for small-plot fruit and vegetable farming. The hillside of derelict stone houses and cobbled streets is an eerie yet stunning background perfect for the avid photographer.

The village centre offers shopping for most essentials and a few luxuries (fresh bread, fruit and vegetables) and a good choice of cafes and restaurants. Mingle with the locals at the teahouse after a walk through the fascinating hillside ruins; the sad remains of a population exchange post WWI and the subsequent Turkish War of Independence. A stroll through the village lanes may find you stumbling across Lycian rocktombs, encountering a meandering donkey, negotiating a herd of goats or coming across fields of wildflowers in springtime. Kaya village’s BBQ restaurants are reknowned and frequented by locals and visitors alike. At least one visit is highly recommended.

Take a short drive to local beaches or a longish walk to Cold Water bay or Ölüdeniz lagoon for a feel of the beautiful coastline. Also within short drives are the towns of Fethiye, Hisarönü and Ovacık.
